Did you know? that bridge position improves your blood circulation and is super calming to you brain.

It’s an inversion meant to increase blood flow to your head, lungs, abs and digestive system. Within sanskrit the ancient language from which yoga was born, “Setu Bandha Sarvangasana” translates to “bridge,” Setu = to “bind,” Bandha = “all,” Sarva = “limb,” Anga = “pose” (asana).

In effect, Setu Bandha Sarvangasana is named after the bridge-like shape the body makes while in this pose.

To do supported half bridge position you need to:

  1. Lie down on the ground with knees bend and legs hip apart. Arms are straight, shoulder-width, along the side of the body.
  2. Holding to edges of the mat with your hands gradually, step-by-step,  lift your pelvis and  spine up and down until you reach to the shoulders and all your spine it’s elevated  above the ground. Don’t move your neck!
  3. Armpits continuously pushing forward.
  4. Frontal hip bones pushing upward toward the ceiling, squeezing that butt! Take 1,2,3,4 yoga blocks wider, the longer way around, build  a construction with the blocks and place it underneath your buttock muscles in the end of the spine. How high is the construction of the blocks depends on  how high you managed to raised your pelvis and spine up.
  5. Heels are working to push your knees back and straight. Head neutral You are still BREATHING!

PS. Stay as long as you wish X

This pose helps strengthen your back muscles, glutes, and hamstrings. The bridge pose can also relieve tension and fatigue in your back. While the pose strengthens your back, it also stretches your chest, neck, and spine. Arching your body upward then helps open your lungs.

Bridge pose stimulates the Root Chakra (Muladhara), the Heart Chakra (Anahata), and the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha). It is a grounding posture that helps the practitioner find grounding, trust, forgiveness, unconditional love, and clear communication.
