The sanskrit name Utthita Balasana bālāsana = bāla “child”+ āsana “pose”is deeply relaxing and calming position where your body:

  1. Is lying down with big toes touching one another and knees apart, which means your groin is open.
  2. Your upper body is stretching down towards the ground, arms are extended above the head to help lengthen the spine and by doing this you allowing the rib cage to sink deeper into the ground.
  3. Forehead is supported by the ground where your third eye chakra (Ajna) is located.

PS. Stay as long as you wish. X

Extended child’s pose brings fresh blood to the brain; stretches hips, spine and knees, relieves tension in the body. This asana also involves lower, middle and upper back.

This pose stimulates the Root (Muladhara) and (Svadhishthana) Sacral  Chakra and channels the prana to the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) gently.
